Is Heaven Real?  Is Hell Real?  Is There Life After Death?
The answer to all three questions is yes.  Heaven is real, Hell is real, and yes...there is an eternal life after death in one of these two real locations.
"The sense that we will live forever somewhere has shaped every civilization in human history.  The unifying testimony of the human heart throughout history is belief in life after death.  Anthropological evidence suggests that every culture has a God-given, innate sense of the eternal - that this world is not all there is.
As human beings, we have a terminal disease called mortality.  The current death rate is 100 percent.  If the Bible is right about what happens to us after death, it means that more than 250,000 people every day go either to Heaven or Hell.  The wise will consider what awaits us on the other side of this life that so quickly ends.
God uses suffering and  death to unfasten us from this earth and to set our minds on what lies beyond.  People who've been diagnosed with terminal diseases, and their loved ones, have a sudden and insatiable interest in the afterlife.  Most people live unprepared for death.  But those who are wise will go to a reliable source to investigate what's on the other side. And if they discover that the choices they make during their brief stay in this world will matter in the world to come, they'll want to adjust those choices accordingly.
What delivers us from the fear of death?  What takes away death's sting?  Only a relationship with the person who died on our behalf, the one who has gone ahead to make a place for us to live with him.  If we don't know Jesus Christ, we will fear death and its sting - and we should.
What God made us to desire, and therefore what we do desire if we admit it, is exactly what he promises to those who follow Jesus Christ: a resurrected life in a resurrected body, with the resurrected Christ on a resurrected Earth.  Our desires correspond precisely to God's plans.  Resurrected people living in a resurrected universe isn't our idea - it's God's.
Is Heaven real?  Our first glimpse of Heaven (especially the eternal city - New Jerusalem) will likely cause us to gasp in amazement and delight.  That first gasp will likely be followed by many more as we continually encounter new sights in that endlessly wonderful place.  'No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him - but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit'. (1 Corinthians 2:9).  The context makes it clear that this revelation is God's Word (the Bible) which tells us what God has prepared for us.  What we otherwise could not have known about Heaven, because we're unable to see it, God says he has revealed to us through his Spirit.  This means that God has explained to us what Heaven is like, not exhaustively, but accurately.  God tells us about Heaven in his Word, because he wants us to understand and anticipate what awaits us.
For every American who believes he's going to Hell, there are 130 who believe they're going to Heaven.  This optimism stands in stark contrast to Christ's words in Matthew 7:13-14. 'Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.'  So Heaven is not our default destination.  No one goes there automatically.  Unless our sin problem is resolved, the only place we will go is our true default destination....Hell.
We dare not wait and see when it comes to what's on the other side of death.  We shouldn't just cross our fingers and hope that our names are written in the Book of Life (Revelation 21:27).  We can know, we should know, before we die.  And because we may die at any time, we need to know now - not next month or next year.  'Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.  What is your life?  You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes' (James 4:14).  It's of paramount importance to make sure you are not going to Hell, but Heaven.
Hell will be inhabited by people who haven't received God's gift of redemption in Christ (Revelation 20:12-15).  Is Hell real...a real place? Hell will be a place of utter misery.  It will be a place of conscious punishment for sins, with no hope of relief.  This is why Dante, in the Inferno, envisioned this sign chiseled abouve Hell's gate: 'Abanodon every hope, you who enter.
In the Bible, Jesus says more than anyone else about Hell (Matthew 10:28;13:40-42; Mark9:43-44).  He refers to it as a literal place and describes it in graphic terms - including raging fires and the worm (soul) that doesn't die.  Christ says the unsaved 'will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth' (Matthew 8:12).
How long will Hell last?  'They will go away to eternal punishment,' Jesus said of the unrighteous, 'but the righteous to eternal life' (Mathew 25:46).  Thus if Heaven will be consciously experienced forever, Hell must be consciously experienced forever.  The biblical teaching on both destinations stands or falls together.
The most loving thing we can do for our friends and our family is to warn them about the road that leads to destruction and tell them about the road that leads to life.  If we understood Hell even the slightest bit, none of us would ever say, 'Go to Hell.'  It's far too easy to go to Hell.  We were born with our autopilot set toward Hell. It is nothing to take lightly - Hell is the single greatest tragedy in the universe.
God loves us enough to tell us the truth - there are two eternal destinations, not one, and we must choose the right path if we are to go to Heaven.  All roads do not lead to Heaven.  Only one does: Jesus Christ.  He said, 'No one comes to the Father except through me' (John 14:6).  All other roads lead to Hell.  For Christians, this present life is the closest they will come to Hell.  For unbelievers, it is the closest they will come to Heaven.
Jesus asks a haunting question in Mark 8:36-37: 'What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?'
The price has been paid. But still, we must choose.  Like any gift, forgiveness can be offered, but it isn't ours until we choose to receive it."1
Choose the truth of the bible and accept Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Realize that he was resurrected on the third day and now sits at the right hand of God.  Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord & Saviour, confess your sins to God & repent of your sins, and we'll meet in Heaven.
